No Gym Fit Clinic 3

The third of four No Gym Fit Clinic’s concentrated on body weight endurance exercises.  Participants were instructed through the hour long workout in three dynamic phases that focused separately on upper body, lower body, and core endurance.  The goal was to push the limits of each individual while maintaining perfect technique in an always changing outdoor environment.

“Endurance training is key when pushing your surfing to higher levels. Aerobic exercise develops slow twitch muscles which become strengthened and elongated for preparation of extended periods of use”, quoted Avidity Fit trainer Matt Bauer.

The workout was designed with very limited periods of rest maximizing the full hour for a complete full body aerobic workout.

“By incorporating a lunge specific series in the lower body focus we targeted the key movements that are most commonly used when surfing”, added Avidity Fit trainer Priscilla Coraccini.

At the end all participants were run through an extended stretching series to ensure each individual was properly getting the recovery they needed after the strenuous hour long workout.
